Rights Respecting Silver Award

Rights Respecting School Award

In 2017 Ide Hill School was presented with a bronze award in recognition of our work towards children’s rights. Since this time, we have been working towards our silver assessment, which unfortunately had to be cancelled just over a year ago due to the pandemic. This week we were finally able to have our assessment! On the day, the assessor looked at evidence that we had previously submitted, spoke to staff and children as well as a group of parents and governors. She was particularly impressed with the way in which children could confidently talk about the Articles within the Convention on the Rights of a Child, how the children were able to describe how their topic learning is rights focussed and how children are involved in school decisions. We are therefore delighted to officially be recognised as a Silver Rights Respecting School.

A huge “Thank you” to all those involved. This has been a fantastic whole school effort however I would like to particularly thank Mrs Farrar and Mrs Duffield for all their hard work, leadership and teamwork since the very beginning of this initiative and to Mrs Hardy for coming on board this year and being a fantastic addition to our RRSA team. Many thanks to the parents and governors who supported our accreditation day and to our incredible Rights Champions. This is a wonderful achievement and we are all extremely proud to have achieved it.
