Bell Ringing at St Mary's Church, Sundridge

13th September 2019
Year 6 had fun this afternoon at St Mary’s church, Sundridge and Brasted, learning about the role of a campanologist. The children learnt that the bells were actually taken down in 2006 and taken to Whitechapel to be mended. They also learnt that the name for the fluffy bell pull is called a ‘Sally’. The children enjoyed listening to a bell ringing demonstration and were able to watch the bell ringers in action via live feed! They then had the opportunity to ring the prayer bell. It was an interesting and fun afternoon. Many thanks to Mr Howse for organising this visit.
