Ide Hill Nativity 2020

18th December 2020
Although I have had to shield for the past few weeks, and be teaching from home via zoom, it was a real pleasure to be able to return this week and be present at the filming of our KS1/EYFS nativity performance. It was clear that the staff team has worked hard to make sure the children didn't miss out on this annual delight. Every year the nativity brings special joys, allows children to shine and reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas but this year the play was especially poignant with the children being able to enjoy the feeling for performing despite us being unable to gather as a school community.
The children were amazing and worked hard, and I very much look forward to seeing the finished film. We owe a debt of gratitude to Mr Adam Brown, who filmed and edited the play and who made the filming day exciting - with all his equipment set up the children felt like Hollywood stars - and who worked so hard all day to get the best out of the cast!
A rather special mention of thanks must go to Mrs Farrar who led the event, and was responsible for scripting, direction, set design and co-ordination of the filming day. The nativity has brought some lightness and joy to an unusual and demanding term. Many thanks to all involved.
Thank you for supporting the school by spending £5 this Christmas on your very own copy of our fantastic Nativity DVD. It is absolutely superb and I am so pleased that, despite the obstacles presented by COVID-19, we are still able to share this special event with you. Through your support, we have raised £530 which will go towards improving the reading scheme books in key stage one. A huge thank you to Clare Reeves and her husband Dave, for burning over 100 copies for us. With each copy taking 18 minutes, this was quite a feat! Thank you - we are very grateful for your help.
